Dough Masters Inc. Issues Recall of Oatmeal Raisin Cookies and Chocolate Chunk Cookies Due to Undeclared Walnuts

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - September 17, 2010 – Dough Masters Inc. of Troy, Michigan, is recalling all lots of their Oatmeal Raisin Cookies and Chocolate Chunk Cookies because they contain undeclared walnuts. People who have allergies to walnuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The recalled “Oatmeal Raisin Cookies” and “Chocolate Chunk Cookies” were distributed to and sold at 7-eleven retails stores in Michigan and Ohio.

The product comes in a 3-ounce, clear plastic package and is labeled as a “7-eleven Fresh to Go” product. The product is also sold as bulk cookies at 7-eleven retail stores.

Dough Masters is recalling all lots of this product to ensure the safety of our customers.

There has been one illness that has been reported to date with this problem.

The recall was initated after it was discovered that the walnut containing product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of walnuts.

Subsequent investigation of this problem was found that the formulation of a different cookie was sent containing the walnuts. These products have been suspended until the US Food and Drug Administration and the company is certain that the problem has been resolved.

Consumers who have purchased our Oatmeal Raisin Cookies and Chocolate Chunk Cookies are urged to return them where purchased for a full refund.

Milton’s Baking Voluntarily Recalls 24 oz. Multi-Grain Bread in Three States For Undeclared Milk in Some Loaves



FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - August 20, 2010 – Carlsbad, CA – Milton’s Baking Company is voluntarily recalling Milton’s® Multi-Grain Bread which was distributed to locations in Northern and Central California, Arizona and Nevada. The company took the precautionary step because the loaves contain milk, an undeclared allergen, which may pose a potential serious and life-threatening health risk to milk-allergic individuals.

The company advises that anyone who has consumed the product and has had an allergic reaction should seek the advice of a health-care professional

This recall affects only Milton’s® Multi-Grain Bread, 24oz, UPC 06541-92038 with the Plant Code 250 sold only in Northern and Central California, Arizona and Nevada. “All Best if Purchased By” dates through Aug 26 are included in the recall.

The product is sold in both single loaf 24 oz packages and in overwrapped double loaf packages. The plant code is printed on the front of the package under “Best if Purchased By” on the second line immediately after the date.

No other Milton’s® products are included in this voluntary recall.

This product was sold in a variety of retail grocery and mass merchandise retailers in the areas of Northern and Central California, Arizona, and Nevada. Retailers began removing affected product from shelves as of Thursday, August 19, 2010. Starting Saturday, August 21, 2010, retailers in affected markets will carry Milton’s Multi-Grain Bread 24oz, UPC 06541-92038, without milk.

The company said consumers may return affected product to the store where it was purchased for a full refund. Consumers should log onto Milton’s website http://www.miltonsbaking.com/talk-to-us with additional questions or inquiries. Consumers may also call 858-350-9696 x 151 from 9am-5pm Pacific Standard Time, Monday – Friday.

Milton’s has received no reports of illnesses or allergic reactions.

The company estimates the recall to involve between 5,000-10,000 loaves.

This recall is being conducted in conjunction with the U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Moonstruck Chocolate Co. Issues Nationwide Allergy Alert on Undeclared Peanut-Butter Filling in Their 4 Piece Cream Cone Chocolate Truffle Collection and 12 Piece Chocolate Malted (or Malt) Cream Cone Chocolate Truffles



FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – August 18, 2010 – Moonstruck Chocolate Co. of Portland, Oregon is voluntarily recalling their 4 piece Cream Cone Chocolate Truffle Collection and the 12 piece Chocolate Malted (or Malt) Cream Cone Chocolate Truffles, because they may contain undeclared peanut butter. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

The products are coded with Best if enjoyed by: 11/2/2010 through 11/15/2010. The Cream Cone Chocolate Truffle Collection contains 4 cream cones in a box with UPC code of 711175011042, and the 12 piece Chocolate Malted (or Malt) Cream Cone Chocolate Truffle is packaged 12 pieces in a box with a UPC code of 711175103549. The 4 Piece Cream Cone Chocolate Truffle Collection contains one Chocolate Malted (or Malt) Cream Cone Chocolate Truffle which may contain peanut butter. The 12 piece Chocolate Malt Cream Cone Chocolate Truffle contains 12 pieces which may contain peanut butter.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that some Chocolate Malted (or Malt) Cream Cones Chocolate Truffles inadvertently contained the milk chocolate and peanut butter French butter cream filling normally used in Moonstruck’s Peanut Butter Cream Cone Chocolate Truffle. Nationwide Milk Allergen Recall of Kroger “Meals Made Simple Shrimp Linguini”



FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – August 14, 2010 – Los Angeles, California – Kroger (product distributor) and Contessa Premium Foods, Inc. (product manufacturer) are recalling 24 ounce bags of Kroger brand Meals Made Simple Shrimp Linguini, because it may contain undeclared milk product. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk products run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

The Kroger brand Meals Made Simple Shrimp Linguini was distributed to all divisions of Kroger’s retail stores.

All units of Kroger brand Meals Made Simple Shrimp Linguini (UPC 1111097756) product are impacted by this recall.

Only one adverse reaction has been reported as associated with this product to date.

This recall was initiated after Contessa Premium Foods, Inc. discovered that the Kroger brand Meals Made Simple Shrimp Linguini included an ingredient labeled as “Natural Flavors” that may have been constituted using milk or milk byproducts. Subsequent investigation indicates that this ingredient was included in the product at very small amounts but was not otherwise indicated on the allergen warning statement.

Consumers who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk products and have purchased the 24 ounce bags of Kroger brand Meals Made Simple Shrimp Linguini are urged to either contact Contessa Premium Foods, Inc. at 888-832-8000 Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time, or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

South Bend Chocolate Company Announces Nationwide Recall of Bountiful Blend Chocolates Due to Undeclared Tree Nuts



FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – August 06, 2010 – The South Bend Chocolate Company, South Bend, Indiana, is recalling 174 1-lb bags of Bountiful Blend, a blend of chocolate covered mixed nuts and dried fruits, because it contains undeclared cashews, almonds, pecans, and Brazil nuts. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to cashews, pecans, almonds or Brazil nuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

Bountiful Blend was sold via internet sales, mail order and may have been sold nationwide through our distributors to retail stores.

The Bountiful Blend product impacted by the recall is sold under The South Bend Chocolate Company brand name and was produced on or after March 18, 2010. The product under recall is: Bountiful Blend in 1-lb Bags. Products with labels reading Item #154,UPC #644823001549 are subject to this recall.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

This recall was initiated after it was discovered that Bountiful Blend containing cashews, pecans, almonds or Brazil nuts were not listed on the product’s labeling. Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by the printing of ingredient statements and was cut off before the listing of nuts printed.

Consumers who have purchased 1-lb bags of Bountiful Blend are urged to contact The South Bend Chocolate Company at 574-233-2577 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern time or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Oregon Ice Cream Company Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Peanuts in Denali Bear Claw Ice Cream



FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — July 23, 2010 – Eugen, OR – Oregon Ice Cream Company LLC of Eugene, OR is voluntarily recalling 641 tubs of 3 gallon Denali Bear Claw ice cream, because it may contain undeclared peanuts. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

Denali Bear Claw ice cream was distributed in the following states: Oregon, Washington, California, Idaho, Nevada, Montana, Arizona, and Alaska.  Consumers can buy this product at ice cream scoop shops or from Cash & Carry stores.

The product can be easily identified by the label on the side of the 3 gallon tub.  The label reads in part “Denali Bear Claw”, Distributed by Oregon Ice Cream Company, Plant 41-90, 3 gallons, 10124, 061041.  The affected lot code of product is 10124 and the item number of the product is 061041.
No illnesses have been reported to date.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that product containing peanuts was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of peanuts. Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by accidental use of ingredients with very similar packaging during production.

Consumers who have purchased Denali Bear Claw are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund if in the original container, otherwise destroy the product. DeBoles® Nutritional Foods, Inc. Voluntarily Recalls One Lot Code of DeBoles® Kids Only! Gluten Free Tubettini Corn Pasta Due to the Presence of an Undeclared Allergen, Lot Code 30JUN11D1



FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – July 21, 2010 – DeBoles Nutritional Foods, Inc. announced that it is recalling one lot code of DeBoles®Kids Only! Gluten Free Tubettini Corn Pasta because it may contain undeclared whole wheat alphabet pasta. People who are allergic to wheat run the risk of an allergic reaction, which may be serious or life-threatening if they consume the recalled product.

The recalled lot was distributed to stores nationwide and through internet orders.

The product comes in a cardboard box, 8.5 ounce, with a clear plastic window. The expiration lot code is on the top of the box and the UPC Code 087336638305 appears on the bottom of the box. No other lot codes are affected. This recall only affects:

Deboles kids only! gluten free tubettini corn pasta

Lot code: 30JUN11D1

No illnesses have been reported in connection with this product. It appears that certain product boxes in lot code 30JUN11D1 may contain whole wheat alphabet pasta mixed with the gluten-free tubettini corn pasta in packaging that did not declare wheat as an allergen and, as a result, the product is being recalled. The alphabet pasta is clearly visible and is a darker color and characteristic alphabet shape compared to the yellow corn small-tube pasta.

Consumers who have purchased 8.5 ounce packages of DeBoles® Kids Only Gluten Free Tubettini Corn Pasta with Lot Number 30JUN11D1 are urged to return such packages to their place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 1-800-434-4246 during extended hours from Monday to Friday 9 am to 9 pm EDT, and on Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm.

Diamond Usa Inc. Issues Allergy Alert On Undeclared Sulfites In “Dry Apricot Rolled”



FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — July 13, 2010 – Diamond USA Inc. is recalling its 1 lb packages with code#01-12-2010 of “Dry Apricot Rolled” because they contain undeclared sulfites. People who have severe sensitivities to sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

The recalled Dry Apricot Rolled was distributed in New York, New Jersey, Virginia, and California to retail stores.  The product comes in a 1 lb sealed package with code #01-12-2010.  It is a product of Afghanistan.

The recall was initiated after routine sampling by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis by Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of sulfites. The consumption of 10 milligrams of sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe reactions in some asthmatics. Anaphylactic shock could occur in certain sulfite sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 milligrams or more of sulfites. Analysis of the “Dry Apricot Rolled” revealed it contained 53.24 milligrams per serving.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

QFC Recalls Broccoli Raisin Salad for Undeclared Allergen



FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — July 10 SEATTLE, July 10 /PRNewswire/ — Quality Food Center (QFC) stores said today it is recalling select containers of Broccoli Raisin Salad because they may contain walnuts not listed on the label.

Customers should return the product to stores for a full refund or replacement.

People who are allergic to walnuts could have a serious or life-threatening reaction if they consume this product. For consumers who are not allergic to walnuts, there is no safety issue with the product.

The Broccoli Raisin Salad being recalled was sold by the pound in the deli service department of some QFC stores on July 10. This is the only date that is affected.

The containers were sold in select QFC stores in Oregon and Washington.

QFC is using its Customer Recall Notification system that alerts customers who may have purchased recalled Class 1 products through register receipt tape messages and phone calls.
