Goya Foods, Inc. Announces Voluntary Recall of Frozen Mamey Pulp, Produced By Coco, S.A. of Guatemala Because of Potential Health Risk



FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – August 13, 2010 – As a precautionary measure Goya Foods, Inc. has voluntarily recalled the Mamey Pulp product produced by COCO, S.A. of Guatemala. This product is distributed nationwide through retail stores under the Goya label.

The product comes in a 14 ounce plastic package. All production lot codes are being recalled. The UPC is 041331090803.

The Frozen Mamey Pulp is being recalled due to a potential health risk from SalmonellaSalmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

Consumers who have purchased Goya brand Mamey Pulp are urged to discard the product and contact Goya Foods, Inc.’s Consumer Affairs Department. Consumers with questions may contact the company Monday through Friday between the hours of 8AM to 5PM, Eastern Daylight Time at 1-800-275-4692.

Goya Foods, Inc. is coordinating closely with the supplier and regulatory officials.

Bimbo Bakeries USA, Inc. Announces Recall of Bimbo Soft White Bread Due To Undeclared Milk



FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – June 12, 2010 – HORSHAM, PA  - Bimbo Bakeries USA, Inc. is recalling Bimbo brand Soft White Bread (1 lb. 4 oz. or 567 grams) sold in California, Idaho, Oregon and Washington because it may contain undeclared milk. People who have an allergy to milk run the risk of life threatening or serious allergic reaction if they consume the product.

The product being recalled has a red band of color above the clear bag window on the front of bread bag and square lock tab closures in the colors and dates as follows:

white tab – 6/14 or 6/21
blue tab – 6/15
tan tab – 6/17
green tab – 6/18
red tab – 6/20

The company announced the recall after it was discovered that the product containing milk was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of milk.

The company has received no reports of illness or injuries.

All products with the above code dates are being removed from store shelves. No other Bimbo brand products are affected.

Consumers with allergies to milk who have purchased the product can return the product to its place of purchase for a full refund.Consumers with questions may contact the company at 1-800-984-0989 at any time 24 hours a day.

John B. Sanfilippo & Son, Inc. Voluntarily Recalls Snack Mix and Cashew Products Due to Possible Health Risk



FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – March 19, 2010 – Elgin, IL – As a follow up to the voluntary recall of black pepper from Mincing Overseas Spice Company announced on March 5, 2010, John B. Sanfilippo & Son, Inc. (Nasdaq: JBSS) (the “Company”) announced today that it is voluntarily recalling various snack mix and cashew products, which have been flavored with seasoning containing the recalled black pepper and which are listed below, as a precautionary measure because the product may be contaminated withSalmonella.

To date, the Company has not received any reports of illnesses in connection with the item listed below.

Consumers who have recently purchased the items listed below should not consume these products and should return them to the store of purchase for a full refund or replacement.

C. H. Guenther & Son, Inc. Announces Voluntary Nationwide Recall of Several Products that Contain Pepper Due to Possible Health Risk



FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: San Antonio, TX – March 17, 2010 – C. H. Guenther & Son, Inc. today announced a voluntary recall of products containing a pepper ingredient that may have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. The products are part of the Sunbird Seasonings, Williams Wings Seasonings and Williams Gumbo Soup lines.

The recalled products contain black pepper distributed by Mincing Overseas Spice Company. The pepper has been recalled by Mincing because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

The products involved were sold in grocery, warehouse and other retail outlets throughout the United States.
