Undeclared Sulfites in “Golden Bridge” Dried Dates
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – August 17, 2010 – New York State Agriculture Commissioner Patrick Hooker today alerted consumers that Sunny Lake Trading Inc, located at 651A Lexington Ave, Brooklyn, New York is recalling “Golden Bridge” dried dates due to the presence of undeclared sulfites. People who have severe sensitivity to sulfites may run the risk of serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume this product.
The recalled “Golden Bridge” dried dates are packaged in an uncoded 12 ounce, clear plastic bag and were distributed in the New York City metropolitan area. It is a product of China.
Routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets’ food inspectors and subsequent analysis at the New York State Food Laboratory revealed the product contained high levels of sulfites which were not declared on the label. The consumption of 10 milligrams of sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe reactions in some asthmatics. Anaphylactic shock could occur in certain sulfite sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 milligrams or more of sulfites.
No illnesses have been reported to date to this Department in connection with this product. Consumers who have purchased “Golden Bridge” dried dates should contact Sunny Lake Trading Inc. at 718-453-3838 or return them to the place of purchase.

Diamond Usa Inc. Issues Allergy Alert On Undeclared Sulfites In “Dry Apricot Rolled”
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — July 13, 2010 – Diamond USA Inc. is recalling its 1 lb packages with code#01-12-2010 of “Dry Apricot Rolled” because they contain undeclared sulfites. People who have severe sensitivities to sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.
The recalled Dry Apricot Rolled was distributed in New York, New Jersey, Virginia, and California to retail stores. The product comes in a 1 lb sealed package with code #01-12-2010. It is a product of Afghanistan.
The recall was initiated after routine sampling by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis by Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of sulfites. The consumption of 10 milligrams of sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe reactions in some asthmatics. Anaphylactic shock could occur in certain sulfite sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 milligrams or more of sulfites. Analysis of the “Dry Apricot Rolled” revealed it contained 53.24 milligrams per serving.
No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

So Shing Hing (USA) Trading Co Ltd Issues an Alert on Undeclared Sulfites in Dried Melon
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – May 24, 2010 – So Shing Hing (USA) Trading Co Ltd is recalling DRIED MELON because the product was found to contain undeclared sulfites. Consumers who have severe sensitivity to sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product.
The recalled DRIED MELON was distributed in NYC Metro Area in 10 oz. clear plastic bags, with item number 520 and bar code number 4893230928048. The DRIED MELON is a product of China.
The DRIED MELON was sampled by a New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspector during a routine inspection. Subsequent analysis of the product by New York State Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of sulfites in the 10 oz packages of DRIED MELON which were not declared on the label. The consumption of 10 milligrams of sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe reactions in some asthmatics. Anaphylactic shock could occur in certain sulfite sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 milligrams or more of sulfites. Analysis of the DRIED MELON revealed they contained 1199 .4 PPM.
No illnesses or allergic reactions involving this product have been reported to date.

People who have severe sensitivity to sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume these products.
Dried Pachyrhizus was distributed in the immediate New York City area.
Product is identified in sealed plastic bag (NET WT 350G/12.32 OZ) as HUMEI FOODS DRIED PACHYRHIZUS, PRODUCT OF CHINA.
No illnesses have been reported to date.

Northern Food I/E Issues Alert on Undeclared Sulfites in Havista White Fungus
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – April 29, 2010 – Northern Food I/E Inc. of Hicksville, NY, is recalling its 100 gram packages of Havista brand “white fungus” because they contain undeclared sulfites. People who have a sensitivity to sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume this product.
The product comes in a 100 gram clear plastic bag with a multi-color label on the front and a white label on the back. The product is coded Best Before 09/10/2011. The recalled Havista brand “white fungus” was distributed in New York and New Jersey in retail stores.
The recall was initiated after routine sampling by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis by the Department’s Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of sulfites in the product, which were not declared on the label. The consumption of 10 milligrams of sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe reactions in some asthmatics. Anaphylactic shock could occur in certain sulfite sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 milligrams or more of sulfites. Analysis of the Havista brand “white fungus” revealed it contained 124 milligrams per serving.
No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

People who have severe sensitivity to sulfites may run the risk of serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume this product.
The recalled “Nut Tree Health Mix” is packaged in 8 ounce, square plastic tubs and coded DATE: SEP 28 10 in black ink on the product label. The product was distributed in the metropolitan New York area. It is a product of the United States, Turkey and the Philippines.
Routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets’ food inspectors and subsequent analysis of the product by the New York State Food Laboratory personnel revealed the product contained high levels of sulfites which were not declared on the label. The consumption of 10 milligrams of sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe reactions in some asthmatics.
