    GMO Analysis Services

Our laboratory can analyse your sample to detect the presence of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) in food using PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction). To meet the growing demand for identification of GMO in food and agricultural products, OMIC USA, Inc. has developed the following services:

    Qualitative Screening

Qualitative screens are required most frequently when clients want to know if any GMO content is present in a sample.

    Event-Specific Testing

This test determines whether a specific gene (GMO) is present in a sample, with a detection limit of 0.1%. Often, if GMO contamination is found by Qualitative Screening, event-specific tests are used to determine the specific GMO present in the sample.

    Quantification

This test quantifies the amount of GMO in a sample using Real-Time PCR (TaqMan), with a detection limit of 0.5%. OMIC developed the analytical methods for this testing in conjunction with the National Food Research Institute of Japan (NFRI).

    Turnaround Time

Standard turnaround time is five (5) working days after receipt of sample. Expedited analysis is available.

    Sample Requirements

A minimum sample size of 1000g is required for raw food. A minimum sample size of 100g-200g is required for processed food, depending on the particular commodity in question. A completed GMO Analysis Request Form is required with each sample, available below:
